Donation from Irle Brewery and HerkulesGroup to the
“Elterninitiative für krebskranke Kinder e.V.”
Strong together for the region – under this motto, Irle Brewery celebrated the opening of its beer garden on May 1, 2025, with a festive event that focused not only on its own well-being, but also on that of the region: 10% of the proceeds were donated to the “Elterninitiative für krebskranke Kinder e.V.”, an initiative dedicated to supporting children with cancer and their families – in other words, celebrating for a good cause. Thanks to the cooperation between the Irle Brewery and the HerkulesGroup, which was launched this year, the company increased the donation by an impressive €2,500 to a total of €5,000. Christian Pilz, first chairman of the campaign, was visibly moved. “We didn't expect such a large sum,” he said. “We are incredibly grateful for this donation and the commitment shown by both the employees and management of the HerkulesGroup and the staff of the Irle Brewery. This is not something that can be taken for granted, and we greatly appreciate this gesture.”
The project was founded in 1988 by parents whose children had been diagnosed with cancer, with the aim of making hospital stays easier and more pleasant for the young patients. “In addition, the initiative aims to promote new treatment options and support the whole family in their difficult situation,” say Christian Pilz, explaining the mission.
Responsibility for the region has always been a matter of course at HerkulesGroup and has defined the company's DNA for many years. The HerkulesGroup’s heart project, to which employees and management have been committed for several years, supports the Kinderinsel in Siegen, an intensive care unit with a residential character for children and adolescents on permanent ventilation at the DRK Children's Hospital. “As a company, we are strongly tied to our region. That is why it is important to us to help shaping our environment and support social projects in the region,” emphasizes Kristina Köhler, management assistant at the HerkulesGroup. “Good causes are a regular part of our company events. With our donations to Kinderinsel, for example, we have been helping for years to purchase important equipment and contributing to the expansion of the residential facility. As a family business, we are happy to take every opportunity to draw attention to charitable projects!”
Jens Bombosch, managing director of Irle Brewery, is also delighted with the sum. “It is important to us to support such projects,” he explains. “Siegen may be a big city, but people know each other and are aware of the challenges involved and the enormous importance of volunteer work. That is why we are delighted to support the people who do the actual work.”
